Sham hearings: LLC tax charade continues
Print This Post
The Union Leader argues that the Lynch Administration isn’t that interested in hearing what New Hampshire’s business community thinks about its new tax on LLC’s.
All three of those hearings will be held in the White Mountains within four days: Berlin, Jan. 5; Plymouth, Jan. 7; and Conway, Jan. 9.
Only one of the hearings (Plymouth, at 6 p.m.) will be held after business hours. Berlin’s will be held at 1 p.m., Conway’s at 10 a.m. That schedule might be convenient for the DRA, but it could hardly be more cumbersome for the small business owners who will be affected by this tax.
Maybe that’s the point. If small businesses owners have to take a day off from work and drive to Conway or Berlin in the snow to comment on a proposal that could take 13.5 percent of their income, maybe they won’t bother showing up.
